Why people are buying it
Intermezzo follows the lives of two brothers, Peter and Ivan Koubek, as they navigate the aftermath of their father's death. Peter, a successful Dublin lawyer, struggles with his relationships with two very different women, while Ivan, a competitive chess player, finds himself in an unexpected romance with an older woman. Rooney masterfully dissects the internal lives of her characters, blending intellectual depth with raw emotional vulnerability.
