The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the re-exam dates for NEET UG 2026. The exam will be held on May 20, 2026, from 2 pm to 5:20 pm. Candidates can download their admit cards from the official website from May 10, 2026. • Over 18 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam. The re-exam is being conducted due to a technical glitch that occurred during the initial exam, affecting several candidates.

Exam Schedule and City Choice

The exam schedule and city choice details are now available on the official website. Candidates can choose their preferred exam city till May 5, 2026. The NTA has also announced that the exam will be conducted in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, and several regional languages. According to Dr. Sadhana Parashar, Director-General, NTA, 'The re-exam is being conducted to ensure that all candidates get a fair chance to appear for the exam.'

Previous Exam Issues

The initial NEET UG exam was conducted on April 15, 2026, but was marred by technical glitches, including server crashes and delayed start times. Several candidates took to social media to express their frustration and demand a re-exam. The NTA had initially announced that the exam would be re-conducted for affected candidates, but later decided to conduct a re-exam for all candidates. According to data, over 50% of candidates were affected by the technical glitches during the initial exam.

Impact on Candidates

The re-exam has caused significant inconvenience to candidates, who had already made travel and accommodation arrangements for the initial exam. However, many candidates have welcomed the decision, stating that it will give them a fair chance to appear for the exam. The re-exam is also expected to have a significant impact on the medical admission process, which may be delayed due to the re-exam. According to experts, the re-exam may affect the admission process for over 1 lakh medical seats in India.
