Modi warns of 'Dimagi Naxals' infiltrating political parties
- PM Modi visited the CoBRA Operations Base in Karanpur for Diwali.
- Armed Naxalism has been eradicated from forests across India.
- Dimagi Naxals are accused of infiltrating political parties and organizations.
- The government claims to have dismantled support networks for extremism.
The Prime Minister told the forces that while armed Naxalites have been eliminated from the forests, the threat is not over because "Dimagi Naxals" remain.
Ideological threat to the Constitution and democracy
Modi warned that "Dimagi Naxals" have taken control of various organisations and infiltrated several political parties.
The Prime Minister said that the country must identify and defeat these "Dimagi Naxals" to ensure national security.
Many political organisations have been infiltrated by these ideological Naxals, according to the Prime Minister. He warned that these elements are working against the Constitution and democracy, necessitating a national effort to identify and defeat them.
First year in 47 years with zero CRPF casualties
This milestone marks the first time in 47 years that no such casualties occurred in the line of duty.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that every district in the country is now free from Naxalism. He described the 2026 Diwali celebrations as the first in decades held after overcoming the challenge of Maoist terror.
On March 31, the government announced the nation had been liberated from the threat of Naxalism. This followed the elimination of various Maoist leaders and cadres alongside the surrender of hundreds of others.
Modi credited the achievement to the thousands of security personnel who worked to restore peace in affected regions. He extended Diwali greetings to these personnel, comparing their contribution to internal security to that of the armed forces protecting India's borders.
He stated, "I have also come here on behalf of 140 crore countrymen to express our gratitude for your sacrifice, dedication and spirit of service".
Security policy shift and historical context since 2014
Modi claimed that from 2004 to 2013, the annual number of security personnel killed exceeded the number of Maoists eliminated.
Modi told the security forces that his government provided them greater freedom to make necessary decisions, unlike earlier administrations that tied their hands. He said the political will to tackle the insurgency strengthened after 2014 when he became the Pradhan Sevak.
The government dismantled internal support networks for Left-Wing Extremism within the bureaucracy and the system. Security operations and financial measures weakened the operational capabilities of insurgents. These actions stopped the supply of weapons and restricted the movement and recruitment of Naxalites.
Modi recalled the 2010 Dantewada attacks where 76 CRPF personnel died in one incident and 44 civilians died in another. Historically, 66 CRPF personnel died in a 2010 Dantewada attack, and 41 civilians died in a separate incident that same year.
Naxalites prevented people in affected regions from voting, with the state witnessing up to 2,000 attacks in a single year. Bastar has undergone a transformation due to counter-insurgency operations, mass surrenders, and development initiatives.
Sustained security operations and development initiatives helped earn the trust of people in affected areas.
Government accuses Cockroach Janta Party of foreign funding
Union Minister Jitendra Singh accused the satirical group Cockroach Janta Party of channeling illegal foreign funds to fuel unrest in India. He named founder Abhijeet Dipke and strategist Ashutosh Ranka as individuals linked to overseas financiers.
The Cockroach Janta Party denied the allegations. The group challenged the government to prove the claims.
National development and poverty reduction goals
The government aims to eliminate poverty, build a drug-free India, achieve self-reliance, and transform the country into a developed nation. Modi expressed confidence in the country's youth and people to achieve these objectives. He said the government will continue working toward these goals with determination and the right policies.
